Thanks for your prayers! Tonight I arrived back in Ukarumpa from the Setaman language survey. We left July 17 and were supposed to get back last Friday, July 24, but were delayed until today (July 27) by bad weather and an airplane mishap.
I am tired, scraped, and bruised, but alright, and so are the other surveyors and the pilot. I'll write more about the survey and post pictures later, but here's a few praise and prayer points:
Praises:
Safety for the team and pilot!
That we were able to gather valuable data
For all of the people who welcomed us, helped us hike, carried our packs, gave us food and places to stay
Prayer:
Healing of cuts and scrapes on my feet and a missing toenail; for the other surveyors recovery too
Wisdom as we start to analyze and write up the data
That people in the area we surveyed will hear and respond to the gospel

So good to hear you are back. Sounds like it was quite the adventure! Rich just asked if you wear shoes while you are hiking. I told him maybe not with all the mud and obstacles. Glad you had a good reception from the people and hope you got all the info you needed. Is Joy on furlough or was she just there for a limited time? I was surprised when she said she was leaving for CA.
Are you still sleeping in the office? Do not imagine you had a lot of energy to move in as soon as you got back.
Hope this finds all well with Ukarumpa in general. Pastor preached on faith, hope, and love from 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 yesterday. The gospel singers "Good News" with Russ Sears gave a great concert last night. Pastor James had a good report on teen VBS.

It sounds like your trip was full of adventure and excitement and a lot of hard work. So good to hear about it! We were camping up at Anna's cabin in Boston in that time, and we were all thinking of you and missing you much! Praying for you,
