Greetings from an internet cafe in hot, humid Madang!
Mom and I flew down to this coastal city on Monday and have been enjoying a nice, distinctly PNG vacation since then. We spent a day in Madang, walking around to the shops and market and enjoying a nice lunch. Another day we went to POC, the orientation course I did last fall, and stopped at a resort on the way home to swim and cool off after a long, hot day of walking on dusty roads. Yesterday we traveled to Rempi, a beautiful cottage right on the ocean, and enjoyed the beautiful snorkeling and scenery.
Today we're going to travel to Bunabun to stay with my wasfamili (from POC) for a few days. Look for more news about our trip after the 17th when we fly back to Ukarumpa.

Sara,
Thanks for the update. Enjoy the vacation and take good care of mom!
TTYL, Love you, Dad
Hi, Sara and Nancy,
Sounds like you are having some wonderful experiences together! We had an astronomy professor from BBC on Sat/Sun speaking about the young earth/universe view. He had photos from the Hubble and we learned a lot about the expansiveness of our universe and our God. Rich had taken a couple of days off and we traveled to Cape Cod MA Sept 8-12. We thought there would be less people after Labor Day. Not so true, but the ocean, waves, and weather were good and we got in some hiking and just sitting at the beach watching the waves break. And wondering how different the waves and weather might be in PNG. Got thinking that you probably don't see the same night sky that we do either, being "down under."
Praying God continues to bless your time together and those in both Ukarumpas with peace. Looking forward to seeing Nancy and hearing all about it.
Praying for you,
Karen H
